We are very excited to announce that Peninsula Voice is now a Registered Charity and Public Benevolent
Institution (PBI) with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status!
What does all this mean?
It means that we are recognised by the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission as a
registered health promotion charity. This in turn allowed us to apply for and be granted DGR status by
the Australian Taxation Office, which enables Peninsula Voice to receive gifts which are tax deductible to
donors.
This is the start of the next phase of our PV journey. Our first 7 years has seen us provide x public
forums, solely as an incorporated association and on the smell of an oily rag. Whilst we will continue to
be frugal with whatever funds we have, we are now able to apply for grants and seek tax deductible
donations.
This charitable status is recognition of the valuable contribution we have made to the community to
date and our intention to explore more ways of fulfilling our vision to relieve human suffering caused by
disease/behaviours that are harmful or abusive to individuals and our community.
Our new status entitles us to use the Registered Charity Tick on all our promotions. The Tick aims to give
reassurance to the public that the charity is transparent and accountable and listed on the ACNC Charity
Register.
